The Noise
"Mrrowrrr." a soft voice says.
"Ahh!!" you gasp. 'It's the cat.' you think. "Man, kitty, you scared the bejeezus outta me. C'mere, girl, I owe you some catnip for what you did earlier." You turn to meet your savior.
'Fluffy' stares at you intently, with two jet black eyes. You realize that Fluffy is no cat, the sound emanating from it's voice box notwithstanding. In fact, it doesn't have one strand of fur on it's entire body. It resembles no beast you have ever seen before in your life, save for in your worst nightmares. The creature perches on four clawed paws, it's mass almost equivalent to that of a Saint Bernard. It's flesh looks discolored, morbid, the complexion of death. It gleams at you, exposing rows of sharp, jagged teeth.
"Ahh!!!" you recoil yet again.
"Mrrowwwrrr." Fluffy purrs.
"Stay away!" you demand.
Fluffy turns it's head down sadly. Then it glances back up suddenly, gleaming angrily at you.
'Oh my . . . . What kind of abomination is this?!' All your surroundings become moot to you at this point. All you know is that right here, right now, you really don't wanna die.
The creature's head splits in half, and it's tongue emerges from the exposed cavity in it's skull. Then, the halfs of it's head divide yet again, into fourths, exposing more teeth. Another cavity opens in it's chest, exposing yet again more gnashing molars. It lets out a powerful roar which freezes you in your tracks. Though whether from it's mouth or it's chest, you really don't stop to consider. You take off in a powerful sprint, choosing one of the doors randomly. You
slam it behind you, and continue running.
The door's frail wood splinters, and the monstrous beast bursts through it, continuing after you.
You push your feet for all their worth, running faster and faster, the creature's hot, heavy breath on your shoulder perpetually. Near the end of the hallway, you spot an elevator shaft, your one hope for salvation. You drive for it furiously, using up all of your reserves. Finally, you reach the shaft, and press the UP arrow key. "C'mon, c'mon, c'mon!!" you say impatiently. "Hurry up, you stupid thing!" You hear an ominous growl behind you. You turn, and find yourself face to face with 'Fluffy'. 'That's it.' you think. 'I'm done for!'
Fluffy perches on it's hind legs, a foreboding clue of its intent to strike.
*DING!!!* The elevator shaft gives off a small chime, and the door opens.
You turn halfway, and spot Fluffy as it pounces. Simultaneously, the doorway to the elevator shaft opens. Nothing left to do, you duck.
Fluffy's massive body goes flying over your head, and into the shaft. It collides into the wall, and is stunned temporarily.
You press the button to close the door, noticing that the obviously malfunctioned elevator hasn't even reached the ground floor yet.
Fluffy wakes up suddenly, and turns back to you. It pounces again, but is halted as the metal door closes.
You hear loud metallic clangs as the beast tries to break through the door, to no avail. It leaves a large metallic dent in the door as it collides into it furiously.
As you lean up against a wall to catch your breath, you hear the large metallic elevator groan as it finally reaches the floor. There is a sickening CRUNCH!!! followed by a bloodcurdling SQUISH!!! as cold hard steel and soft sinewy flesh meet.
After a mournful shriek of pure agony, things go deathly silent. The elevator door emits a shower of sparks, and opens inadvertently.
You gasp as a puddle of multi-colored liquid oozes from beneath the elevator. "Heh heh. Happy birthday, ya mangy bastard!" you say coldly. 'The elevator's out of order, and even it it wasn't, it would be after that. I'll have to find another way out.' You turn and glance around. 'Wait!' Your mind comes back on track. 'What if somebody heard that?! I'd better get out of here.' You emerge from the winding tunnel and re-enter the large room where apparently someone must hold meetings of some sort. You spot the conspicuous file you saw before still lying on the table. 'Don't have much time.' you think.
What will you do now?
Pick up the file and glance through it.
Go into the nearby red door.
Go into the nearby blue door.
